SCBQ Plays South Roanoke Library Auditorium

In what may have been one of our best performances yet, the SCBQ played at the South Roanoke Library auditorium on Veterans Day, November 11, 2024. This was a concert sponsored by the Roanoke chapter of the Thursday Morning Music Club. We presented a program of American music.

We played selections from West Side Story, and all-American music such as a medley of Stephen Foster music. Also performed was movie music including If I Only Had a Brain and If I Ever See an Elephant Fly from Disney’s Dumbo. It wouldn’t be American music without some John Philip Sousa, so we played Washington Post march and National Emblem. We really touched a wide range of music

For both performers and audience, this is a very nice venue which seats maybe 200 people. I don’t think there is any publicity for the venue itself, but it can be rented for a very reasonable fee. We really should be putting on concerts more often using venues like this. The community makes them available, and the public will turn out for local performers.
